Beginning Storytelling Workshops are offered for the
storytelling enthusiast who wants to learn the basics of storytelling.
Participants will learn types of stories, how to choose
stories to tell, techniques for learning stories, beginning storytelling
techniques, and how to put the book down when telling stories. Family
folklore, historical and personal storytelling, storytelling in poetry,
storytelling with props, songs and chants are included in these workshops.
Intermediate Storytelling Workshops are offered to help expand upon beginning storytelling skills. Topic
covered include: The Oral Tradition: What It Is and Is Not, Contemporary Issues
for Storytellers, Living Your Story: A Look at Pan-African Tales, Instruments
in Storytelling and Voice Control Techniques, The Tricks of the Trade, What Makes
a Good Storyteller, Storytelling as a Business, The Do's and Don'ts, Professional Strategies,
Portfolios and Marketing.
Youth Storytelling programs designed for ages 6 through 17 are
offered at various locations throughout greater
Mentoring Program opened to all members, is an opportunity for new and
experienced members to come together regularly in small groups to enhance storytelling
skills while learning from one another. Our mentoring program promotes the
growth and development of storytelling skills and techniques, fellowship among
members and helps builds a strong base of accomplished, experienced
storytellers within the organization.
Special Programs
Eyeglass and Hearing Aid Project CABS collaborates with Labone
Leo Club, Ghana Association of African Storytellers and Angel Hands of Northeast Ohio.
