MaryAnn Harris
Storyteller
Dr. Harris specializes in telling, re-writing and writing original Anansi Stories. She is a 1997 award winning author in the annual Half-Price Bookstore, Bed Time Story Contest. The title of her winning story is The Talking Drum. According to Dr. Harris if you want others to gain knowledge you must write, and if you must write, you "gotta" publish your work.

Dr. Harris served as the Co-Chairperson of the Adopt-A teller Program for the National Association of Black Storytellers (NABS) annual conference and festival in Cleveland, Ohio, 1997. As a result of her motivational and promotional activities more than 50 sites were attained for national storytellers to perform.

Storyteller, Dr. MaryAnn Harris is a teacher, researcher, grants writer, consultant, poet, and master of spreading the word. She has performed in libraries, schools, churches, nursing homes, and businesses.

Dr. Harris has served as a storyteller workshop presenter at the National Community Education Conference, International African Child Institute, National School Boards Association Conference, Multilingual Multicultural Education Conference, etc., etc., etc.

Dr. Harris will be a featured storyteller at the annual Cleveland Heights Cain Park Festival on June 28, 2000. She will be the second member of the Sisters with Stories team. The Cleveland association of Black Storytellers selected Dr. Harris for this one of a kind entertaining event.

Dr. Harris currently serves as vice-president of the Cleveland Association of Black Storytellers. She is a member of several storytelling organizations such as (WRAPPS) and a life member of the National Association of Black Storytellers, Inc.
